Fly Fishing

The New England Fly Fishing School
is located at the Whispering Pines Conference Center at the W. Alton
Jones campus of the University of Rhode Island. Whispering Pines
Conference Center is an executive retreat which provides a refreshing
setting for concentration and creative thinking.
W. Alton Jones was the first to use this site for such a purpose.
While it was his private hunting and fishing retreat he hosted meetings
for dignitaries such as President Eisenhower and the King of Nepal.
At the New England Fly Fishing School, we have continued this tradition
of maintaining the feeling that each guest is special--a special
guest visiting a friend's fishing lodge or country retreat. An unhurried
environment has been created where we can conduct your class in
seclusion, away from ringing telephones and daily office interruptions.
At the school we realize how important good food is to the success
of your weekend. Our chefs are proud of the savory, traditional New
England fare that is served buffet style at lunch and dinner. From
the freshly baked breads and pastries to fine desserts, you can be
assured that the chefs insist on using the freshest ingredients.
Meals that will please even the most discriminating palette.
If you would like to request a special meal or are following a special
diet, please let us know. We will see to it that you get what you
like, to insure a pleasant dining experience.
Schools run from three-hour workshops to two-day sessions, starting
early May through late September.
Please see Basic Fly Fishing page, for school syllabus.
